A high-pressure system that has formed over North Maharashtra has led to the circulation of hot winds, significantly increasing temperatures across the state. This weather development has resulted in widespread heat, with Maharashtra currently experiencing intense and uncomfortable conditions. Experts have warned that the impact of this system will persist, causing the state to remain under severe heat stress in the coming days. The situation is expected to worsen further, as meteorological assessments suggest that the current pattern is not temporary but part of a broader rise in temperatures.

According to forecasts, Maharashtra is likely to endure scorching conditions for at least the next week, with no immediate relief in sight. The India Meteorological Department has also indicated that the coming four weeks could remain hotter than normal, raising concerns about prolonged heatwave-like conditions. This extended period of high temperatures may affect daily routines, health, and water resources. Authorities and citizens are being advised to take precautions as the persistent heat could pose risks, especially to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.

On Saturday, April 11, Akola recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, highlighting the intensity of the heatwave. Other regions, including Mumbai, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, and Vidarbha, have also reported a noticeable rise in temperatures. Weather experts attribute this surge to rapid atmospheric changes that resulted in the formation of the high-pressure zone over North Maharashtra. Due to this system, hot winds are sweeping across the state. In the coming days, Mumbai is expected to reach around 35 degrees Celsius, while the Mumbai Metropolitan Region may witness temperatures climbing up to 38 degrees Celsius.
