The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted light rain likely in Mumbai and its suburbs on Friday, April 3, while yellow and orange alerts were issued for Pune and other districts of Maharashtra, expecting thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, moderate rainfall& gusty winds (40-50kmph) at isolated places.
Mumbai witnessed light rainfall in a few areas on the evening of Thursday, April 2, while the IMD's weather stations - Colaba and Santacruz did not officially record measurable rainfall. The weather department similar pattern across several parts of Maharashtra in the coming days due to western disturbances.
Yellow and Orange Alerts in Several Districts of Maharashtra
IMD issued a yellow alert in Dhule, Nasik, Ghats of Nasik, Pune, Ghats of Pune, Sholapur, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Akola, Amaravati, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Yavatmal for thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall & gusty winds (30-40kmph) at isolated places.
Orange Alert sounded in Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Jalna, Parbhani, Beed and Hingoli, for thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, gusty winds (50-60kmph), hail at isolatedplaces.
Meanwhile, the weather department predicted the maximum temperature in Mumbai would likely hover around 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum to be 24 degrees Celsius. Air Quality Index (AQI) remain under the satisfactory category at 69.
