Maharashtra Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an orange alert for several districts in Maharashtra, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and possible hail, even as intense heat continues to affect parts of the state.
The IMD’s Mumbai observatory urged residents to take necessary precautions, cautioning that weather conditions could change rapidly. According to the latest forecast, the next three hours are critical, with Pune, Ahmednagar, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Nashik and Solapur districts placed under an orange alert. Isolated areas in these districts are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph
Nashik, Ghat Regions Under Alert for March 19
Nashik district has also been placed under an orange alert for March 19, with a strong likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds of 50-60 kmph and hail at isolated places.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for the ghat regions for the same day, where light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and winds of 40-50 kmph are expected.
