Maharashtra Weather Update: Scorching Summer Expected, IMD Warns of Heatwaves

This summer is expected to be extremely hot across many regions of the country. The Meteorological Department has warned of severe heat waves in Maharashtra, with temperatures set to rise in March, according to Meteorologist Dr. Anupam Kashyapi. Akola recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 38.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

Dr. D. S. Pai, Additional Director General of the Meteorological Department, shared forecasts for the summer months of March to May. Notably, signs of summer appeared as early as February, when low morning and night temperatures contrasted with afternoon heat. February recorded the highest average minimum temperatures since 1901, with the year's highest minimum temperature at 15.2 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous record of 14.91 degrees Celsius in 2016. March's average minimum temperature is also expected to be elevated, as seen with a rise already on March 1st.

Heat waves are forecasted for Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and northern Karnataka.
