Maharashtra has been witnessing continuous fluctuations in weather over the past few days, with alternating spells of sunshine and rain. While some districts are reeling under heat, others have experienced unseasonal showers, raising concerns among farmers. State continues to face a drought-like situation even as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more unseasonal rainfall in parts of Vidarbha today (April 16), issuing a yellow alert for several districts.

According to the weather department, Vidarbha is likely to receive rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms. The rest of the state will remain cloudy, with chances of severe heatwave conditions in some areas.

Unseasonal rains are also expected over the next two days in Marathwada, Vidarbha and western Maharashtra. Citizens and farmers have been urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions. Districts including Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli are expected to receive rain and thundershowers, with yellow alerts issued accordingly.

Thunderstorms with gusty winds and lightning are likely at isolated places in Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Washim, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli. Additionally, unseasonal rainfall and thunderstorms are also expected in parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. The rest of the state will experience partly cloudy skies with hot and humid conditions.

According to the Nagpur Regional Meteorological Department, unseasonal rainfall is expected in parts of Nagpur and Vidarbha for the next two days due to the formation of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal. While night-time rainfall is expected in some areas, it may not significantly affect daytime temperatures.
