Maharastra Flood: 7 naval rescue teams rushed to Ratnagiri & Raigad districts to provide assistance

Based on a request received from Maharashtra government, the Western Naval Command, Mumbai mobilised flood rescue teams & helicopters to provide assistance to state administration. Seven naval rescue teams departed by road for deployment to Ratnagiri & Raigad districts on 22 July from Mumba.

Airlift of marooned personnel from Raigad district is also being undertaken. One Seaking 42C Helo from INS Shikra, Mumbai departed for rescue at Poladpur/Raigad during early morning hours today. If need arises additional flood rescue teams have also been kept on standby, for immediate deployment.

Heavy rains lashed central Maharashtra, including the entire Konkan region, on Thursday, the rains will continue on Friday. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, heavy rains are also expected in most parts of the Konkan and central Maharashtra on Friday. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Orange Alert has been issued on July 23 for Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburbs, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara and Kolhapur districts, while Nashik, Aurangabad, Jalgaon, Jalna and Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Akola and Nagpur districts are likely to receive normal rainfall.
