Malad building collapse: "Let BJP bark, they think everything is fault of Shiv Sena and they themselves are clean", says Mumbai mayor

At least eleven people, including eight minors, lost their lives after a residential structure collapsed in New Collector compound, Malad West of Mumbai late on Wednesday night, informed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Thursday reacted to the whole incident of the building collapse. She said, "Culprits behind what happened in Malad (building collapse incident) should take responsibility for it. More than looking into whose administration was there, it should be seen that who was responsible for it. Had everyone been responsible, it wouldn't have happened."

The BJP attacked attacked the Shiv Sena-led Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) over the incident and said it was not an accident but a "murder" due to BMC's negligence. To which Pednekar responded,"Let BJP bark if they want to. They think that everything is the fault of Shiv Sena and they themselves are clean."

As per the BMC, the collapse engulfed a nearby residential structure. It also affected another residential structure in the area that is now in a "dangerous condition". The building in which is in dangerous condition has been evacuated.

Rescue operations are underway.
