Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has been granted bail in the Vashi Toll plaza vandalism case on Saturday. Vashi court has granted bail to Raj Thackeray on a bond of Rs 15,000. Also, the next hearing of the case will be held on May 5 and Raj Thackeray is not required to appear in court during the hearing.

The court had ordered Raj Thackeray to be present to start the hearing in the case. Accordingly, Raj Thackeray appeared in Vashi court on Saturday. The Vashi court granted bail to Raj Thackeray on a caste bond of Rs 15,000. "I have spoken during the a gathering, but I do not agree with the crime," Thackeray told the court.

Advocate Akshay Kashid, one of the lawyers representing Raj Thackeray, said, "In 2014, Raj Thackeray had addressed a gathering at Vishnudas Bhave auditorium in Vashi where he stated that if the state government does not fulfill the demand to abolish toll charges from motorists crossing Vashi toll plaza, then the MNS workers should ensure that the toll charge is not collected from motorists. On the same night, MNS activists vandalised the Vashi toll plaza in protest against the toll collection. The repercussions was witnessed at several other toll plazas across Maharashtra."

Raj Thackeray appeared in Belapur court today in connection with the Vashi Toll plaza vandalism case 2014 in Navi Mumbai. The Belapur court had issued warrants against Raj Thackeray for not appearing despite several summons.
