The Mansukh Hiren death case on Monday was transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Mansukh Hiren, owner of the Scorpio car parked with explosives outside the Ambani's home was found dead in Thane last week.Maharashtra Leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Friday had reacted over Mansukh Hiren's death saying,"I asked in House for protection to Mansukh Hiren, as he's the main link in the case & might be in danger. Now we get to know of his body being found. It makes the case fishy. Looking at this & alleged terror angle, we demand that case be handed over to NIA".

In his statement to the Mumbai Police, Mansukh Hiren had claimed that his car had not been in use for over a year and that he recently drove the vehicle because he wanted to sell it. Hiren had said to police officials that his car broke down and he decided to park it on the Mulund-Airoli Link Road on February 16. When he returned to the spot the next day, the vehicle had been stolen.

According to the police, Mansukh Hiren had even filed a complaint about his stolen Scorpio with the Vikhroli police.

Explosive materials were found in a vehicle outside group chairman Mukesh Ambanis residence on February 25. Some amount of Gelatin and letter was also found in the vehicle.
