A special court has remanded Assistant Inspector of Police Sachin Vaze, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the case involving an abandoned SUV found near the home of industrialist Mukesh Ambani was on Sunday sent to the agency's custody till March 25.

Following the NIA's action, Sachin Vaze has now been suspended from the police service. If any government official or employee gets police custody for more than 48 hours, he is suspended.

Action has been taken against this background. Police officer Sachin Vaze has beeb placed under suspension by an order of Additional CP Special Branch on Monday, said Mumbai Police PRO, S Chaitanya to ANI. 

Two officers and two drivers working under Sachin Vaze were interrogated for nine and a half hours. A few more officers are likely to be called in for questioning. Meanwhile, it is said that important information has now in the hands of the NIA. According to a Marathi news channel, the NIA has identified the drivers of both Scorpio and Innova involved in the conspiracy. The NIA will soon arrest and interrogate the two drivers.

On the other hand, sources said that Sachin Vaze has named a senior Mumbai police officer during the NIA probe. 

Vaze, 49, has been booked by the NIA in connection with the SUV and he is also being simultaneously probed by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad for the mystery death of Thane businessman Mansukh Hiren - two cases which sparked off a nationwide political furore.
