The Mumbai to Amravati Amba Express was involved in an accident near Bodwad railway station after it collided with a truck that had illegally crossed a closed level crossing. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Around 4:30 am near Bodwal Railway Station, a truck carrying wheat attempted to cross the tracks through an unauthorized route. The truck failed to clear the tracks in time and was struck by the Amba Express. The impact caused the truck to split in two, with the front portion becoming lodged against the train’s engine.
Though the level crossing had been closed for a long time and replaced with a Railway Over Bridge, the truck driver bypassed the barrier and drove through the old crossing stopper, landing on the tracks. Despite the damage to the truck, the train’s engine remained unaffected.
Both the loco-pilot and the truck driver, along with his cleaner, were unharmed. Railway officials initiated repair work on the tracks, with plans to restore normalcy within 90 minutes. An investigation is ongoing, and legal action may be pursued against the truck driver for endangering public safety.
