Politics in Mumbai has gained momentum on the backdrop of the upcoming municipal elections. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar had received death threats last month from an unknown number, a complaint has been lodged at Mumbai's Azad Maidan Police Station and an investigation is underway.

Pednekar received a phone call on December 21. The person was speaking in the Hindi language and also used foul language. The complaint was filed two days after receiving the call. However, the police have maintained their silence over the issue and the accused is being traced.

As per sources, it is being said that the accused has been found and a team has been sent to neighbouring state to arrest him. However, officials have not yet confirmed it.

The development comes at a time when a war of words is already underway and political parties have geared up to capture power in the BMC where elections are set to be held in 2022.
