BJP leader Kirit Somaiya on Wednesday has alleged that he was manhandled by the Maharashtra Police during his peaceful protest outside the Alibag court in support of Republic Media Network's Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami. Goswami has been arrested in connection with an abetment to suicide case booked at the Raigad police station in Maharashtra in 2018. The case had been closed earlier and has now been reopened. The journalist has been arrested in the death case of interior designer Anvay Naik, who allegedly died by suicide in Alibaug in May 2018. A suicide note purportedly written by Naik alleged that Goswami had not paid him his dues. Later, Goswami was also named in the FIR of Naik's death case.Speaking to media, Kirit Somaiya said, "I had come to the Alibag police station to see how Arnab Goswami was being treated by the police." But the police picked me up and threw me aside. No citizen can even stand and watch. Kirit Somaiya has alleged that this is bigotry even though it has not hampered the work of the police.
