Mumbai Police has started the process of removing from service suspended Assistant Inspector of Police Sachin Vaze, who was arrested in the Antilia blast case and Mansukh Hiren death case.

Mumbai police will invoke provisions of Article 311 (2) of the Constitution to dismiss Vaze. Article 311 deals with dismissal, removal or reduction in rank of those employed in civil capacities under the Union or a state. According to sources, the process has been stepped up by the Mumbai Police after the NIA arrested Sachin Vaze in connection with an explosives found in a Scorpio outside Mukesh Ambani's Antilia residence.

Sachin Vaze's last posting was in a special branch, so Mumbai Police has said that this process is the responsibility of the concerned department. A few days back, Additional Special Branch Commissioner Sunil Kolhe had written to the Maharashtra ATS and NIA seeking documents related to Sachin Vaze's involvement in the case, which was also mentioned in the FIR copy.

The documents have been handed over to the special branch on Monday. The special branch officer will then prepare his report and submit it to the Maharashtra government

"We have received the report from ATS and NIA, which we will now send to the legal cell and further proceedings will be initiated," a senior Mumbai police official said.

If the government agrees with the report against Sachin Waze will be removed from service.
