The Taj Hotel in Mumbai, the country's financial capital, has received a bomb threat call from Karachi, Pakistan following which the security has been tightened outside Taj Hotel & nearby areas. 

The stock market in Karachi was attacked yesterday. As per sources, the bomb threat call was received at Taj Hotel and Bandra's Taj Lands End.  

The caller identified himself as a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba and threatened to blow up the Taj Hotel. As soon as the police got the information, the security in the hotel area was increased. He said the Taj Mahal Palace and Taj Lands End hotels would be blown up as it happened in November 2008.

The call came around 12.30 pm. The call was answered by an employee at the Taj Hotel. 

India Today reports that another threatening phone call was received at Taj Lands End Hotel in Bandra. The caller, from Pakistan, threatened to blow up the hotel in a similar manner. Both the calls were received from the same numbers.

Both the Taj and Taj Lands End hotels are currently closed due to the coronavirus. However, security outside both the hotels has been beefed up by the police.

Mumbai Police has launched an investigation into the matter and call details are being verified.
