Nagpur, Maharashtra (February 16, 2025):  A major explosion occurred at a gunpowder company in Kotwalbaddi, Kalmeshwar taluka of Nagpur district. The blast also sparked large-scale fires in the surrounding forests. A video from the explosion site has surfaced on social media showing fire tenders at the scene.

Preliminary reports confirm that two workers lost their lives in the incident. The explosion occurred around at 1.30 pm at SBL Energy Limited in Kotwalbaddi. The blast also ignited a large fire in the surrounding forest area and caused a building collapse. Many people are feared to be trapped under the debris.

Emergency services including police, fire tenders, and ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene. Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar, along with teams from Katol and Kalmeshwar police, have reached the location. Rescue operations are currently ongoing.
