Nagpur, Maharashtra (April 11, 2025): A police officer in Nagpur allegedly slapped a young man who questioned him for riding a two-wheeler without a helmet. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The footage shows the young man approaching the officer after noticing him riding without a helmet. When he asked why the officer was not wearing one, the officer stopped his motorcycle, called the young man closer, and slapped him twice. The entire incident was caught on camera.

After hitting the youth, the officer claimed he had a toothache, which is why he was not wearing a helmet. The video does not contain any evidence of the youth using abusive language, yet the officer accused him of doing so. Following the altercation, the officer, identified as Anand Singh, got back on his bike and put on his helmet.

Many social media users have criticised his actions and demanded action against him. One user commented, "Will an ordinary citizen get the same exemption if they have a toothache?" Another pointed out, "You will find many such cases where police officers do not wear helmets, fail to use seat belts, talk on the phone while driving, drive in the wrong direction, and violate traffic signals."
