Nagpur witnessed violent protests since Monday night, escalating from demands to remove Aurangzeb’s tomb into incidents of stone-pelting, arson, and attacks on police personnel. Clashes erupted between two groups in the Mahal area, following protests led by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. During the violence, several police personnel were injured, and more than 50 people were arrested for their involvement in the clashes.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took immediate cognizance of the situation and personally inquired about the health of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Niketan Kadam, who was among the injured officers. In a video call with DCP Niketan Kadam, CM Fadnavis asked about his injuries, the medical treatment he received, and wished him a speedy recovery. The Chief Minister has also assured strict action against those responsible for the violence and has urged authorities to restore peace in the city.
