Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole expressed support for former MLA Harshwardhan Sapkal, who has been appointed as the new state party president. In a statement, Patole said, "We are all united in supporting him. Maharashtra now has a young state president, and the party's senior leadership made this announcement yesterday. Sapkal will officially take charge on February 18, and under his leadership, Congress will grow stronger in the state."

We all are with him. Our Maharashtra has got a young state president. Party's senior leadership announced it yesterday. He will take the charge from February 18. Under his leadership, Congress will grow stronger in the state, said Nana Patole.

Watch:

Harshwardhan Sapkal has been appointed as the new president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, the party announced on Thursday. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge approved the appointment, which takes effect immediately. Sapkal, 57, a former legislator from Buldhana, is known to be closely aligned with Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. He succeeds Nana Patole, who resigned from the position following the party's defeat in the state assembly elections last year.

The Congress leadership had been searching for a new state president for several months, facing difficulties in finding a leader willing to take on the challenge of rebuilding the party.
