After Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray questioned the Centre as why it has not conferred Bharat Ratna on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole on Friday reacted to Sena's demand.

Patole said,"Bharat Ratna should be conferred upon Savitribai Phule and Shahuji Maharaj. Shiv Sena's stand is not our stand."

"Letters were sent (to the Centre) twice, seeking Bharat Ratna for Savarkar. Who confers Bharat Ratna? It is the right of the prime minister and a committee," Thackeray had said in the Assembly.

"You don't give Bharat Ratna to Savarkar and you preach us about renaming?" the chief minister had said, adding that Aurangabad will definitely be renamed.
