Nanded, Maharashtra (November 23, 2024): Congress candidate Ravindra Chavan won the Nanded Lok Sabha by-election by a narrow margin of 1,457 votes, defeating BJP’s Dr. Santukrao Hambarde in a closely contested race. Chavan secured 5,86,788 votes, while Hambarde received 5,85,321 votes.

The by-election was held following the death of sitting Congress MP Vasant Chavan on August 26. Ravindra Chavan is the son of the late MP.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s Pratap Patil Chikhalikar had won the Nanded seat, defeating Congress’ Ashok Chavan. However, Chikhalikar lost the 2024 election to Vasant Chavan by a margin of over 59,000 votes.
