NCP chief Sharad Pawar has reacted over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi being roughed up by police on his way to Hathras, at Yamuna Expressway on Thursday.

Sharad Pawar took to Twitter and wrote,"Reckless behaviour of UP Police towards @INCIndia leader Shri @RahulGandhi is extremely condemnable. It is reprehensible for those who are supposed to uphold the law to trample upon the democratic values in such a manner.

Uttar Pradesh Police personnel pushed former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on the ground near the Yamuna Expressway and arrested him along with his sister and party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, while they were walking towards Hathras to meet the family of the rape victim.

A 19-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly assaulted by a group of men on September 14 while she was working in the fields with her family. The victim died in Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, after the second FIR was lodged by the family on September 22 in which they named suspects, three more accused have been arrested.
