Nine companies, including Adani railways, in race to grab Mumbai CSMT station redevelopment contract

Railways is planning to redevelop the historic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai. A total of nine companies, including Gautam Adani's Adani Railways, GMR Enterprises and Oberoi Realty, are in the race to bag the redevelopment contract. This information has been given by Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC).

Under the redevelopment plan of CSMT railway station, it is planned to transform this station into a mini smart city. The CSTM redevelopment project includes features such as segregation of arrival and departure, development of divyang-friendly stations, better services for passengers and energy-efficient buildings among others. There will also be business opportunities.

After the redevelopment, passengers will get state-of-the-art facilities from this station. It will also improve their travel experience. The following are the nine companies bidding for redevelopment contracts of CSMT railway station.

Godrej Properties, Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holdings, ISQ Asia Infrastructure Investment, Kalpataru Power Transmission, Moribus Holding Pvt Ltd and BIF IV Infrastructure Holding DIFC Pvt Ltd.

According to PTI, IRSDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer SK Lohia said that nine companies have been selected for RFQ (Request for Quotation) for the redevelopment of the CSMT station. In the next phase, IRSDC will issue a Request for Proposal. This is the most ambitious project for us. We are committed to making CSMT Station a state-of-the-art transport hub.

The IRSDC said the redevelopment of the station would cost around Rs 1,642 crore. This cost will work on the basis of design, build, finance, operate and transport DBFOT. Railways is planning to redevelop a total of 123 railway stations in collaboration with the private sector. Of these, IRSDC will operate at 63 stations and RLDA at 60 stations. The redevelopment of all these stations will cost around Rs 50,000 crore.
