A shocking incident has unfolded in Jalgaon district, where a police officer was kidnapped in Chopda taluka, near the Madhya Pradesh border. The officer was abducted from Umrti village, Maharashtra. Upon receiving the information, the police took immediate action, successfully rescuing the officer within four hours.

The Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh border is home to two Umrti villages—one in Maharashtra and the other in Madhya Pradesh. The Chopda rural police had gone to Umrti village in Maharashtra to arrest a suspect in a criminal case. After capturing the suspect, a group of villagers attacked the police, kidnapping one officer and taking him to Umrti village in Madhya Pradesh.

Upon learning of the abduction, Jalgaon District Police Superintendent Maheshwar Reddy quickly formed a team and coordinated with Madhya Pradesh police. A large police force was dispatched to the area, and after an intense four-hour operation, the officer was successfully rescued. According to Superintendent Reddy, the kidnappers released the officer fearing a larger police crackdown.

This incident has raised serious concerns within the police department, with many questioning the safety of citizens when even law enforcement officers are not immune to such attacks.
