The BJP on Monday hit out at Sharad Pawar, saying the politics of splitting parties was introduced by him. In a post on X, the party said Pawar became CM for the first time by splitting the Congress and added that while he idolised Y B Chavan, he always took a stance opposing the late Chavan. “By opposing Sonia Gandhi’s foreign origins, you created NCP and later for power you knelt before her,” said the tweet.

On July 2 this year, Ajit Pawar, in a startling move, joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government splitting the NCP, while challenging his uncle for control of the party.Ajit Pawar, 63, was sworn in as the second Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra after months of speculation about his possible defection to the BJP, along with eight other leaders who followed him to join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena-BJP government in the state.
