The mother of Vitthal Shelar, an assistant police inspector in Satara, died after being hit on the head with an iron rodat Warje Malwadi on Saturday morning. The victim was identified as Shabai Arun Shelar (65, resident of Ramnagar, Warje Malwadi). The incident took place on Saturday morning near Ramnagar vegetable market in Warje Malwadi in Pune.Shabai Shelar's son Vitthal Arun Shelar is working as an Assistant Inspector of Police in Satara Police Force. Shabai Shelar has a scrap metal business. She had a shop near the vegetable market and lived there. A person who came to sell scrap metal saw Shabai's dead body and informed Warje police at 5.30 am.

As soon as the police got information about the incident, they reached the spot and started investigation. The last few days have seen an increase in homicides during the lockdown. In the last 4 days, despite the curfew, there have been 5 murders.
