Raj K. Purohit, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Maharashtra cabinet minister passed away at 70 on Sunday, January 18, 2026 morning in Mumbai at Bombay Hospital. Raj K. Purohit was admitted to Bombay Hospital for treatment on the evening of January 15th due to health complications. However, he breathed his last at 3:00 AM today while undergoing treatment. His demise has created a significant void in political circles.
Akash, son of the late Raj Purohit, was recently elected to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Raj Purohit, a five-term Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly representing Mumbadevi (four times) and Colaba, served for over 25 years and was known for his commendable work as Housing Minister for Mumbai's tenants.

Raj K. Purohit's mortal remains will be taken to his residence. It will be kept there for final viewing from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral procession will begin after 1:00 PM, and the last rites will be performed at the Sonapur Lane crematorium.
