Farmers are protesting against the newly enacted farm laws for over two months at various borders of the national capital.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray has commented on the ongoing Twitter war after international personalities extended support to the farmers' protest in India on the micro-blogging site. Commenting on global celebrities' views, many celebs said India's sovereignty cannot be compromised and external forces cannot become participants.

Raj Thackeray has said that the central government should not force eminent persons in the country to tweet like this. This time, Raj also slammed Rihanna, the pop singer's tweet that sparked the controversy.

"Who is Rihanna? Who is she? Why is she so important? Did anyone know her before she tweeted?" And it is not right for the government to force Bharat Ratna (Tendulakar) awardee in our country to tweet after Rihanna, "said Raj Thackeray.

“Agricultural laws are beneficial. But that is not all. Therefore, discussions between the Agriculture Minister and the agitators may not lead to a solution. Therefore Prime Minister Modi should call the farmers and clear the issue", said Raj Thackeray.

Farmers have been protesting at different borders of the national capital since November 26 last year against the three newly enacted farm laws: Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
