Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Pradeep Temkar died by suicide on Monday.Temkar, 70, lived with his wife and two sons at a residential building named Ganga Heritage, located at Deodhar Road in Matunga East. According to the police, the incident happened on Monday evening, around 5.15 pm. The retired police official, who was last placed at Mumbai police’s Traffic Department, back in 2014, was alone at his residence on Monday. He allegedly jumped from his residence on the 7th floor, towards the ground. The family of the deceased informed the police that he was getting psychotic treatment at a private hospital as he was suffering from depression. “He was suffering from depression for several years, and the family informed us that he kept getting frustrated which led to domestic fights at home. This must be the reason behind such an extreme, unfortunate, step,” said a police official.Temkar was taken to the hospital but he was declared dead before arrival, added the official. A case of accidental death has been registered at the Matunga police station. The deceased's family suspects no foul play behind his death.
