The cancellation of Maharashtra state board class 10 exams has finally been sealed by the court. Retired professor Dhananjay Kulkarni withdrew the petition challenging the state government's decision to cancel the Class X examination. The High Court questioned Dhananjay Kulkarni on the health of the children. After Dhananjay Kulkarni withdrew his petition, the petition is dismissed as withdrawn.  Adv Uday Warunjikar for the petitioner said that the State had not come up with an evaluation process when he approached HC or when the State decided to cancel the exams. 

During the, Bombay High Court asked whether the petitioners would take responsibility what is going to happen to the children? (if they take the exam). Who is Dhananjay Kulkarni? What is his contribution in the field of education? The court asked the petitioner's lawyer.

All the class 10 students will be appearing for the CET exam for class 11. At that time all the students will come to the same level. The CET will not discriminate, the court said. Similarly, the state government has decided to pass the students through assessment. The court said that the petitioners may be granted liberty to approach the court again, if required. 

Last month, the state government declared to cancel the Class 10 exams due to the increase in the number of Covid cases. After which a petition was filed at the Bombay High Court by professor Kulkarni challenging the Maharashtra government’s decision cancelling the Class 10 board exams this year due to the surge in Covid-19 cases.
