Suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vaze, accused in Mansukh Hiren death case, was planning another big act after explosive planting near Antilia in Mumbai, said NIA sources.

A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Friday sent Vaze to judicial custody till April 23 in the case of placing the explosives-laden vehicle outside the residence of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and subsequent death of Thane-based businessman Mansukh Hiren. The Special NIA Court in Mumbai allowed CBI access to the documents with NIA for CBI's preliminary inquiry against Anil Deshmukh.

The special NIA court asked Vaze how his letter got leaked in the media. The court reprimanded Vaze's lawyers and strongly instructed them not to repeat the mistake. The court instructed the lawyer to follow process and do whatever within the limits of law. Vaze in his letter has allged Anil Deshmukh and Anil Parab had asked him to extort money for them.

During the hearing, Sachin Vaze's lawyer requested for a safe cell in jail as he apprehends his safety and security. It is learned that Sachin Vaze has been sent to Taloja Jail. His lawyer further said that the officer has sent many criminals to jail while in service, so a safe cell should be provided to him.

"I want to bring some facts to the court's notice. On April 7, the court had given an opportunity to the accused to write whatever he wanted to say to the court, and asked him to follow proper procedure. Despite that, while he was still in NIA's custody, some documents were given by the accused to his lawyers," said NIA's counsel Sunil Gonsalves.

Vaze's lawyer Aabad Ponda said he was surprised to hear this. "I'm unaware, and not involved in this".
