Maharashtra: A major dispute over kitchen duties escalated into a physical altercation between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law on Thursday morning in the Gavbhag area, Sangali. Both women sustained injuries and filed cross-complaints with local police.

In her complaint, the mother-in-law, Shantabai Laxmanrao Phaltankar, stated that her daughter-in-law, Varsha Vinayak Phaltankar , confronted her, asking, "Why haven't you swept the kitchen?" This led to an argument between the two.

Varsha verbally and physically assaulted her mother-in-law, biting her right thumb and causing a bleeding injury inside her mouth that required stitches. Varsha claimed she only asked her mother-in-law, Shantabai, to sweep, which allegedly provoked Shantabai to verbally abuse and strike her, causing injury to her back and right leg.
