Sangli: A tragic accident occurred at Rethare Dam (Walwa taluka) on the Peth-Shirala state highway. In this incident two young men from Shirala died on the spot when their motorcycle collided with the back of a sugarcane trolley on the slope near the dam's reservoir. According to reports, this incident occurred on Wednesday night between 10:30 and 11:00 PM.
The deceased have been identified as Pawan Suresh Kadam and Abhishek Amar Pardeshi . According to the information received, the two young men were speeding on their motorcycle from Peth towards Shirala on Wednesday night. Near the Rethare Dam reservoir (Walwa taluka), they collided forcefully with the back of a sugarcane trolley that was also heading towards Shirala. Two youths died instantly from severe head injuries and bleeding in a late-night accident that disrupted traffic. Islampur police registered the incident, and after post-mortem examinations, their bodies were released to family members in the morning.

In a separate incident on the same Peth-Shirala road Wednesday at 9 PM, Suraj Bhimrao Ghevde, 25, of Rethare Dam, was struck by a hit-and-run motorcycle near Peth school while riding towards Shirala. A truck then ran over his leg after he fell. Seriously injured, Suraj is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Ishwarpur. This incident has not yet been reported to the police.
