Shiv Sena leader, MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday said that the Maharashtra government will take a decision regarding reopening gyms and temples in September.

There hs been demand to reopen gymnasiums and temples despite the increasing covid-19 cases in Maharashtra. Gyms and temples in Maharashtra have been closed since March due to coronavirus lockdown.

Many leaders including from the ruling Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government have also demanded the reopening of gymnasiums and temples.

Earlier in August, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had allowed gymnasiums and religious places of worship to be reopened amid the pandemic.

Thackeray on Wednesday said that some people might think that the process of opening the lockdown is a little slower in Maharashtra but it is better to be slow and steady than backtrack the moves later..

“I think the Chief Minister has already made statements regarding it. As per my understanding, a decision on reopening gymnasiums and religious places of worship would be taken in the first week of September,” Raut told media persons in Mumbai.
