A fire broke out suddenly in a luxury bus carrying IIT students from Mumbai on the Pune-Bangalore National Highway near Anewadi, Taluka Javali Toll Naka. The driver acted promptly and evacuated 32 students from the bus, preventing a major disaster. The incident occurred at around 9:30 AM on Wednesday, March 5.
According to police information, 32 boys and girls studying at IIT-Bombay were traveling by the luxury bus towards Satara. They were headed to the Suzlon company in Chaalakewadi, Satara district of Maharashtra, for a project. After traveling a short distance from Aanewadi Toll Naka, the driver noticed a fire in the rear part of the bus. The driver immediately turned the bus onto the service road and instructed the students to exit the bus.

The students were frightened by the sudden fire, but they quickly exited the bus, grabbing whatever bags and belongings they could. Some locals immediately informed the fire department, and the firefighters managed to control the fire at the scene.
The fire destroyed the seats inside the bus. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Police Inspector Vikas Dhas from the District Traffic Branch and Assistant Police Inspector Ramesh Garje from the Bhuiyinj Police Station arranged for another luxury bus for the IIT students. They then continued their journey towards Chaalakewadi for their project. This incident has not yet been registered at the Bhuiyinj Police Station.
