NIA officials have learned that suspended Assistant Inspector Sachin Vaze, who was arrested for allegedly keeping an explosive-laden car near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, was reporting directly to Commissioner of Police Parambir Singh in every case. Was this investigation handed over to Vaze? The matter will be taken up with senior officials of the crime branch soon, sources said.

It is understood that the NIA will seek information from Vaze to know who and why he was appointed as the Chief Investigating Officer in the gelatin car case, and whether proper process was implemented in this regard.

Senior officials are expected to inquire into the matter in the next one or two days. Vaze was assigned to the CIU. This department comes under Mumbai Crime Branch. Prakash Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner, Detection Crime Branch, Additional Commissioner Veeresh Prabhu and Joint Commissioner Milind Bharamba were senior officers. Naturally,Vaze was obliged to report them. However, Vaze was in direct contact with Commissioner of Police Parambir Singh.

Therefore, NIA officials want to know whether he investigated in the same manner in the explosive car case.
