The NCP has clarified its position on Dhananjay Munde, who has been in the news since past three days after a woman brought up rape charges against him. Munde’s defence on social media that it was a blackmailing attempt by the victim, who is the sister of his currently estranged second wife, invited more troubles for him.

Regarding this, a meeting of senior NCP leaders was held today in which Munde's matter was discussed.

Meanwhile, NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar declined to comment on thw whole matter. NCP president and water resources minister Jayant Patil said there was no need for Dhananjay Munde to quit the MVA cabinet. "Munde himself has explained the entire incident. It took a long time for him to build a political career and reach this stage. Since the court is seized of the case, I am sure the truth will come out and justice will be done to Munde," Patil said. Munde had said on Tuesday that when the woman began defaming him on social media and blackmailing him, he approached Bombay high court, which restrained her from publishing material or pictures against him on social media.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, State President Jayant Patil and Praful Patel were present at the meeting of senior NCP leaders. Dhananjay Munde arrived at Chitrakuta bungalow this morning in a private vehicle without any security. It is being said that he will manage his political work from there for a few days. Munde called on Sharad Pawar on Wednesday to present his case. "Munde had a brief meeting with Pawar," an NCP minister said.
