A child development project officer died by suicide by near Lakhani in Bhandara district around 4 am on Saturday.

She strangled herself in the bathroom of her rented house. The deceased has been identified as Sheetal Ashok Phalke (28). She was originally from Satara.

She was working at Lakhani since June 30, 2017. She was unmarried and was living with her mother in Manik Nikhade's house.

Her mother found her hanging in the bathroom on Saturday morning. The incident was immediately reported to Lakhni police. The police conducted a panchnama. A suicide note was also recovered from the spot. The suicide note stated she didn't blame anyone for her suice and wrote'Mother please forgive me'.

Sheetal was under stress since a few days, her colleagues said. She was reportedly crying in the office on Friday afternoon. Her suicide has caused a stir in government circles in the district.
