In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old teenager was allegedly murdered in Khar, Mumbai at a New Year party. Mumbai Police has registered a case of murder against two persons in this regard. Prima facie, the incident seems to be a homicide. The two accused & few others are being interrogated, said a police official.
Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old woman at a New Year party in Khar and further investigation is underway, said the police.
The deceased's mother said, the incident occurred around 1.40 am. My daughter's skull was fractured. The police are conducting a detailed investigation, two suspects have been arrested.
The deceased teenager, identified as Janvi Kukreja, was a psychology student at Jai Hind College. Till 12:15 am January 1, she was with her family, celebrating her father's birthday. Later she was taken to a New Year party by her neighbour. The party was on the rooftop of a residential building in Khar area. The family was informed about her death around 5 am.
Police said the murder took place between second floor and ground floor of the building. The people residing on the second floor are the grandparents of the host. Police suspect that as they are old, they must not have heard screams.
According to police inquiries, Janvi didn't like the way her boyfriend was flirting with other girls in the party. When she saw him and a girl getting close, a fight flared up. The girl was Janvi's neighbour and was the one who took her to the party. The building's CCTV camera has captured the boyfriend leaving the building with his torn shirt, which strongly indicates that force was applied. Further investigation into the case is underway.
