Special court extends NIA custody of Vaze till 9th April

Sachin Vaze the Mumbai police officer who was suspended in the Mukesh Ambani security scare case and is NIA's custody was brought to Special NIA Court on Wednesday. The Special NIA Court extended the NIA custody of extended the NIA custody of Waze till 9th April.

NIA has sought custody of Vaze for 4 more days. His lawyer says that he's not opposing NIA's demand of remand, adds that Vaze is ready to cooperate with CBI in their probe. He says that he wants to register his objection on Vaze being taken to CSMT station with handcuffs on for scene recreation by the National Investigation Agency. 

A new CCTV footage has been found that shows Sachin Vaze going to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 7 pm on March 4, a day before Mansukh Hiren was found dead. He had taken a local train to Thane on March 4. Vaze was brought to the CSMT on Monday for scene recreation by the NIA.

Further the special court allowed CBI to interrogate Vaze in NIA custody, also directs CBI to co-ordinate the timings of the interrogation.

Vaze, Assistant Police Inspector in the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) who was in charge of the Hiren case, was in NIA custody till March 25, for his alleged role and involvement in placing the explosives-laden vehicle outside the residence of Ambani.

Hiren, the owner of the vehicle that was found containing explosives materials outside the house of the Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, was found dead on March 5 in Thane.

Investigation into his death was being probed by Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), till the MHA handed over the probe to the NIA.
