Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Madhav Netralaya in Nagpur on March 30. While addressing the masses present there for the Bhoomipujan event, he said that this institute will help many people, and thousands of people will overcome darkness by seeking treatment here. He also wished everyone for many auspicious festivals that are being celebrated today, like Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Navreh, and Cheti Chand. He also spoke about how we are taking our traditional wisdom forward in the medical field.

Speaking about how the Netralaya will help the ones facing health issues, he said, “At this 'teerth' of 'Sangh Seva', we are becoming witness to extension of a pious commitment... Madhav Netralaya is the kind of institution that has been serving lakhs of people for many decades, following the ideals of Guruji. Many have got their eyesight back, the foundation stone of the new premises was laid, and after this, the service will speed up. Thousands of people will overcome darkness. I appreciate and extend my good wishes to everyone associated with this service. The way the country is working in the field of health, Madhav Netralaya is taking it forward... To provide a health facility to everyone, including the poor, is our priority. Nobody should be deprived of a good life. It is our policy to provide a carefree life to the senior citizens. This is so because of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, medicines are being provided at a very cheap cost through Jan Aushadhi Kendra, and there are more than 1,000 dialysis centres. People are saving lakhs of crores of rupees. Many Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are there. Medical colleges, AIIMS, are proliferating."

PM Modi said that now medical education is being provided in various regional languages in India. He said, “We took a big, courageous step, which happened for the first time since independence, to facilitate poor students in becoming doctors, we allowed medical education in their mother tongue. With these advancements, we are also taking forward our traditional wisdom in the medical field, our Yoga and Ayurveda are getting new recognition in the entire world, India's respect is increasing... If we see the history of our country, there have been slavery of hundreds of years, many attacks, there have been brutal attempts to erase the social structure of India, but the consciousness of India has been intact. How did this happen? Many movements have happened throughout time to protect it. Guru Nanak Dev, Kabir Das, Tulsi Das, Sur Das, Sant Tukaram, and many others have given life to our national consciousness with their moral values. Swami Vivekanand awakened the society drowning in disappointment.”

He said, “Many auspicious festivals are starting, Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Navreh, and Cheti Chand festivals are being celebrated in different parts of India. The centenary year of the RSS is this year. I got the opportunity to pay tribute at Smruti Mandir. We also celebrated the 75 years of Indian Independence recently. Next month, there is the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, I remembered and took blessings at Deekshabhoomi. I want to wish people on Navratri and other festivals."
