The supreme court has been hearing the power struggle in Maharashtra for the past three weeks. The arguments of both sides in the case ended today, and the Supreme Court has reserved its verdict. Now, what exactly the Supreme Court decides, in this case, has caught the attention of the political circles as well as the general voters in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam reacted while speaking to the TV9 news channel regarding the overall hearing.
"There is no doubt that there has been a stringed argument by both groups on the power struggles of the state over the past few days. At this time, the court also asked some questions to both groups with the purpose of resolving the doubts that were arising in their minds. But yesterday, the Chief Justice made a harsh comment on the governor's actions. However, it was his opinion recorded at the time. So will it affect the outcome? This cannot be said at the moment," said Ujjwal Nikam.
Speaking further, he said, "In my opinion, there will be two important issues in this case: one is the role taken by the Governor and the other is the issue of the disqualification of 16 MLAs. It cannot be said now who will have the right to disqualify 16 of these MLAs. According to the Constitution, this right lies with the Speaker of the Assembly. So it has to be seen whether they get this right or the court takes a different stand on it. The Supreme Court may direct the Governor to appoint a temporary Assembly Speaker to decide the disqualification of MLAs," he said.
