Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray and his party members opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill. Uddhav Thackeray had said that they not only opposed the bill but also the hypocrisy and corruption of the BJP. Leader of the Shinde Faction, and Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske, slammed Uddhav Thackeray for opposing the bill and said that his true face has now been revealed in front of people. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis taunted Uddhav Thackeray in a social media post. He said he would see whether Thackeray respects the thoughts of Bal Thackeray or follows Rahul Gandhi's path of appeasement.

Speaking with the media outside the Parliament, Naresh Mhaske said, “The real face of Uddhav Thackeray has come to the forefront. Uddhav Thackeray, who left the Hindutva of Balabasaheb Thackeray and joined hands with Rahul Gandhi for power in Maharashtra. For him, the opposition has said yes, thanked him, thanked him. The opposition has done the work of bringing the real face of Uddhav Thackeray to the forefront. I thank them for bringing the real face of Uddhav Thackeray to the forefront.”

"There are some corrections (for the Waqf board) in the Waqf amendment bill, which are good. However, the experience with the BJP till now is that yanche dakhwayeche daant ani khayeche daant vegde ahe (all show, no substance) ...We supported them during the repeal of Article 370...But I want to ask, did the Kashmiri Pandits get their land? We not only opposed the bill but also the hypocrisy and corruption of the BJP and its plans to give land to its businessmen friends," Thackeray, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said during a press conference, reported ANI.

The Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025, was approved by Parliament after a 12-hour debate, with the Rajya Sabha voting in the early hours of Friday. In the upper chamber, the bill was approved with 128 votes in favour and 95 against.
