Maharashtra government on Friday sent a senior IPS officer on compulsory leave for allowing DHFL promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan to travel despite the ongoing lockdown, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said.

According to reports, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is upset with NCP ministers over the special permission given to Wadhawans. He has also expressed his displeasure over the delay in taking action against the  . senior IPS officer.

Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress comprise the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which is headed by Thackeray. Meanwhile, senior Nationalist Congress Party leader and state cabinet minister Nawab Malik said that an investigation into the incident is on. "IPS and IAS officers come under the ambit of the PMO. If the Central Government wishes to take action against Amitabh Gupta, they are free to do so. We will welcome the same," added Malik.
