The Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) has registered a decisive victory in the Vasai–Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) elections, securing a clear majority by winning 71 out of 115 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the second-largest party with 43 seats, while other political parties failed to make any significant impact in the civic body. With this emphatic mandate, BVA chief Hitendra Thakur has once again retained his stronghold over the Vasai–Virar civic body, reaffirming the party’s long-standing dominance in the region.

Party-wise Seat Tally

Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA): 71 seats

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): 43 seats

Shiv Sena (Shinde faction): 1 seat

Shiv Sena (UBT): 0

Congress: 0

NCP (Sharad Pawar faction): 0

NCP (Ajit Pawar faction): 0

Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi: 0

Others (SP, AIMIM, AAP, BSP): 0

BVA’s Ward-wise Performance

The Bahujan Vikas Aghadi secured victories in Wards 1, 3, 4, 6-01, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21-03, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29.

Several of these wards witnessed four-member panel wins, which significantly contributed to the party’s total of 71 winning candidates.

BJP’s Winning Wards

The BJP registered wins in Wards 2, 5, 6-03, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21-01, 22, and 23, also securing four-member panels in these constituencies.

Exit Polls Largely Accurate

Ahead of the counting, an exit poll released by VMJ (Virar Majhi Jaan) had projected a comfortable majority for the BVA in the 115-member civic body. The survey had estimated that the BVA could secure around 82 seats, well above the majority mark of 58, indicating a strong return to power. The Mahayuti alliance—comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and its allies—was projected to win 29 seats, while Shiv Sena (UBT) was expected to secure just two seats. Other parties and independents were predicted to collectively win two seats.

BVA Reasserts Dominance

The final results firmly establish the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi’s control over the Vasai–Virar Municipal Corporation, marking yet another major political success for Hitendra Thakur and his party. The BVA’s strong showing echoes outcomes of earlier elections in the region, including the 2015 civic polls, where the party had won an overwhelming majority. The VVMC election drew significant attention due to the region’s political importance and intense campaigning by all major parties, but the verdict has once again underlined BVA’s dominance in Vasai–Virar.
