It has been raining heavily in Kalyan-Dombivali area for the last few days. Heavy rains have caused flooding in most areas. But on Thursday, normal life in the Kalyan-Dombivali area was disrupted. Even though the intensity of rain was less on Thursday, many parts of the city were still flooded. There were also rumors about flooding in some areas. However, due to the high tide, the water level rose and the water entered into the city, and the city of Kalyan Dombivali was submerged in water despite the rains taking a break on Thursday.

Since Thursday morning, water had accumulated in Kalyan East area, Devicha Pada in Dombivali, Kumbharkhanpada, MIDC, Titwala, Shahad, Thakurli. The slums in these areas were totally submerged in water. Even though there was no heavy rains in the area on Thursday, which led to many people question why water logging was reported in the city. It was rumored that the gates of Barvi Dam had been opened due to continuous heavy rains in the last few days, which would worsen the situation in the city. Many have been circulating such messages on Whatsapp creating an atmosphere of panic among citizens.

Later the administration gave a clarification saying that the gate of Barvi dam hasn't been opened and the dam has not been filled yet. The high tide time was 1 pm to 3 pm on Thursday. The city of Kalyan Dombivali is surronded by rivers. Similarly, Valadhuni, Ulhas river and Kalu river are also adjacent to the city. The heavy rains over the last few days had already raised the water levels in the river and creeks. It had waves about 4.7 meters high since the high tide on Thursday. So the water slowly seeped into the city and disrupted public life.
