The Parksite police have arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl. The accused has been booked under Section 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act. Following his production in court, he has been remanded to police custody.

According to police sources, the survivor’s mother works in a private company and would drop her daughter at a relative’s house before heading to work. The accused, who resides in the relative's neighborhood, allegedly lured the child on the pretext of buying her chocolates and sexually assaulted her.

The matter came to light when the girl returned home at night and complained of severe abdominal pain. Her mother rushed her to a local clinic, where the examining doctor confirmed that the child had been subjected to sexual assault. Upon being questioned by her mother, the girl narrated the ordeal and identified the neighbor as the perpetrator.

The mother immediately approached the local police station and lodged a formal complaint. Sensing the gravity of the situation, the police registered an FIR and apprehended the accused. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
