A 76-year-old British national working as a broadcast engineer for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during the Indian Premier League (IPL) was found dead at a luxury hotel in South Mumbai.

The deceased has been identified as Jan William Langford, a UK citizen who had been staying at the Trident Hotel since March 24 for IPL match coverage.

According to police sources, Langford returned to his room (No. 2715) on the night of March 29 after work. On the morning of March 30, hotel staff attempted to contact him but received no response. Subsequently, the staff used a master key to access the room, where he was found unconscious on the floor.

The hotel’s in-house doctor was immediately alerted, following which Langford was rushed to Bombay Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police said that a post-mortem examination has been conducted, and no foul play is suspected at this stage.

An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered at Marine Drive Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
