Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated advanced vehicles and cyber laboratories for the Mumbai Police on Monday to strengthen the fight against cybercrime. Speaking at the event, CM Fadnavis highlighted the significance of these facilities, stating that the newly established cyber labs will play a crucial role in investigating cyber offenses effectively. Additionally, he announced the launch of Women's Help Rooms in every police station, aimed at providing better support to women in need. “The cyber laboratories are vital for the thorough investigation of cybercrimes, and we are committed to enhancing this network,” Fadnavis said.

The event also saw the inauguration of the Nirbhaya Cyber Experiment School at DB Nagar Police Station in South Mumbai, along with cyber labs at Worli Police Station (Central Mumbai) and Govandi Police Station (East Mumbai), which were inaugurated online by the CM. Attendees included Minister of State for Home (City) Yogesh Kadam, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Iqbal Singh Chahal, Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, Special Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, and other senior police officials.

According to official sources, Mumbai plans to have five cyber laboratories, with three already operational. These labs are equipped with advanced technology and software, enabling quick recovery of data from electronic devices, even if tampered with or deleted to conceal evidence. This will significantly aid in proving cyber-related crimes, particularly those involving crimes against women.
