Day 2 of Detour, the Mass Media festival of Jai Hind College, Mumbai, unfolded as an immersive celebration of creativity and intellect, keeping the campus alive with energy from start to finish. Students, judges and spectators filled the venue throughout the day, creating an atmosphere that balanced competitive spirit with artistic expression.
The spotlight remained firmly on the flagship events, starting with Dance + Drama, where performers seamlessly fused movement and emotion to tell compelling stories that resonated with the audience. The Short Film segment showcased inventive storytelling and fresh perspectives, while the Band and DJ events shifted the mood, turning the space into a lively concert arena with enthusiastic crowds and sing-along moments.
Complementing these were the General Events, which highlighted originality and sharp thinking. The Mock Courtroom event stood out with persuasive arguments and theatrical advocacy, while the Caricature competition impressed with its blend of humour and artistic finesse. Rap battles brought unfiltered expression and confidence to the stage, and the Quiz kept both participants and onlookers on edge with its fast-paced challenge of knowledge and reflexes.
The day was further enriched by a distinguished panel of judges, including Rahul Dholakia, Reema Maya, Harman Singha, Rishabh Wala, Ayesha Khan, Vivaan Shah, Devika Vatsa, Aasa Singh and Prateeksha Srivastava, whose insights and feedback added depth and learning to the competitive experience.
One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the promotional event for Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery, attended by Karan Tacker, Arshad Syed, Saloni Batra and director Robbie Grewal. Their engaging interaction with students sparked thoughtful conversations and left a lasting impression. Overall, Day 2 of Detour reaffirmed the festival’s reputation as a platform where mass media, creativity and collaboration converge, strengthening its place as one of the most anticipated college festivals on the circuit.
